Happy Birthday, JT!

Today is my sweetest friend's birthday. JT is simply amazing and I love her so much. In many ways, we are really different. She's super organized and a big planner. I'm a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants disaster. She's a highly Reformed Presbyterian. I'm a mostly-Armenian, Presbyterian-appreciating, Church of God-attending recovering Baptist. She's a political conservative with a Libertarian streak. I'm a Jesus-worshiping Democrat (yes, it can be true). She got her Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education so she could homeschool her children. I LOVE my kids' preschool & elementary! She like hazelnut in her decaf skim lattes. I like vanilla. ;) Different...but when we are together, beautiful things happen.

JT is an amazing friend, wife and mother. She loves her family so well...she sets boundaries for her kids and then allows them to thrive. Her faith in God is inspiring...even in the most challenging of circumstances, she trust that God will provide for her and cares for her every need. She's generous beyond measure and thoughtful in a way that I've rarely encountered in another human being. More than once has she shown up at my house with groceries or meals when I am going through a hard time (appendicitis, morning sickness, stillbirth, the night before taking my family to Disney at Christmas). Her encouragement was the very first thing that gave me the courage to pursue becoming a yoga instructor, so strong was her belief in me. She's pursuing her own dream right now, to start a home organizing business, and has a wonderful blog about simplifying, which if you aren't following, you should be. Through this, she's making lots of people's lives better. Go, JT!

JT is a lovely human being. Being with her makes me want to be a better person. She's like a sister I never had, only better. I hope you have a friend just like her. I love you, JT. Happy Birthday!!

  1. Love this -- and happy birthday to JT! Especially love the description of the contrasts between the two of you. Have always thought that was funny.
